Huh???

Nothing there... plus your coordinates as given are not correct. Lat and Long are in degrees, minutes [0-59] and seconds [0-59]... What is 1300.17 for instance?

The location in Google Earth returns an error when you put in what you say to use, and then if you just use 69N and 33E you get an empty river over in Northern Russia near Murmansk. No scan shows anything of import plus the resolution is horrible so you cannot tell what a ship is versus a spit of land.

Revisit your coords and repost so we know what you are talking about...

Worked fine for me, but whatever it was is gone now, or at least I'm not seeing it...

Try putting this in: 69 13' 00.17 N 33 22' 26.06 E

Should take you right there.

I think some areas aren't clear for a reason. They probably can't show certain details of specified areas.

I logged in and saw that big bastard pier side. I am thinking typhoon because of the width.
Does anyone know how often it is Google Earth is updated? I looked immeditatly on 1st posting.

Wayne,

Google Earth pulls images from all over the place and I remember that there was one that was at least 15 years old if not more.

Will try new coords... Regarding the image resolution and update frequency, I talked at length with the Google CTO a few months back. He told me all the reasons why data was not in the best of resolutions. Mostly the reason is simply this: Licensing. Google Earth, formerly known as Keyhole Viewer, used licensed data from different aerial and satellite companies. In a dispute as Google Earth came to be, they lost a ton of licensing. But, to their credit, GAINED the world, in a lower resolution. Whereas previously you could not go view the Sahara Desert in Africa, now you can albeit at reduced resolution but still not bad for what you get.

Now as far as the updates... during earthquakes or severe storms, GoogleEarth links direclty to NOAA data and displays it as overlays on the map allowing you to use a slider bar to make it opaque or transparent or mix the two to any level. For instance, I used to look at the Katrina disaster and do before and afters in the city using this feature. I showed a contractor working here his mothers house before Katrina when it was fine and after where its roof was the only thing visible. These overlays represent hundreds even thousands of dynamically loaded images from a direct net tie-in, some of which were color coded to indicate when they were taken and during which point of the post storm flooding they occured. Similarly the huge Earthquake last year in Pakistan [?] had tons of overlays... The missing Typhoon or whatever that ship was could have been from an overlay that is no longer active. I have seen it before. Updates are fairly infrequent with data that is already in reasonably good resolution. They are concentrating on low res areas and filling them in.

You should download the app. The basic app is free. I own and use Google Earth Plus but the data and photography are the same as with the base version.

I will try the updated coordinates.

I have to agree with ohlala, Delta is more likely, looks way to narrow to be a Typhoon

Check this out.
44-36-09 and 33-31-58.
Sevastopol harbor. That needle looking thing is a submarine trainer. It has small white buildings on top of it. Saw it while I was there.
Follow the shore a very short distance north of there and you will see the only known Russian pumpjet, a Kilo. Looks like another submarine next to it.

At 44-36-48 and 33-31-33 is a naval museum. The roof is green. The street in front of it is Lenin Street. On the south side of the building is sitting a Shaddock missile, but hard to see. You can see on the back side of the building an older yellow colored cruise missle looking thing that I also got pictures of.

And at 44-36-42 and 33-30-59 is a way cool small resterant with many aquariums built into the walls. They have an english menu for the language impaired. Good food.

If you see something like this, you can do a screenshot, somewhere on top you'll find a button to save a picture of your google earth screen. That way you are not subject to the changing google imaging and we can discuss it more easily!

Here's a bit of an easy reverse quiz. Identify the sub, where it is located, and provide the lat/long.
