Purging many submarine files this weekend. Tossing out duplications, saving space. Of all my files, my 'thinnest file' is of Tullibee SSN-597. Here are two photos from that file of Tullibee taken on August 30, 1978. Photos by Robert Patterson, of 'The Day', New London Newspaper. Tullibee is a motley patch work incongruous mixture of elements, anechoic tiles aft, Puffs, tiny boat, slow (but quiet in her day when new), even the 'Zumwalt' style uniforms. Note the flat deck area forward, well blended into what is basicly a round cross section. Since she has those three huge puff passive arrays, I wonder if she ever used a towed array ever? Butt ugly, qualifying her making a great modeling subject. Great photos.

Wasn't she affectionately known as "Building 597"?

"Building 597" and by her crew...the 'Roach hotel' I was told. In 1/48 scale, you could use a 6.2 inch PVC pipe.
