Thread: OTW Vanguard Build

  1. #1

    Default OTW Vanguard Build

Building this boat for a customer. As usual Bob's kits are first class. Not a flaw to be found.
This boat will also run on a OTW module as well. Starting the boat now.

This build will include trimming and a test run video.

Here's some pictures of the kit and a couple of the last one I built. More to come folks!

Finally got started today on the boat. Got all the cuts in the hull made. The fore and aft hull sections attached to the lower hull. All the cuts are faced. PJ is attached. The hardest part of this build id those cuts, There's no scribes of where to cut the sections so a little work with a laser level, square and tape measure and you know where and mark it. Then painters tape to guide your laser saw cuts.

Tomorrow I'll attach the tail feathers and the bow planes and it will start looking like a submarine.

    Steve,
I can see the vaseline making the cutting easier does it also help the saw to stay sharp longer? I went through a couple of saw blades when I cut my hull with no lube.

Don it's no big deal. Glad to be of help.

Got a lot more done today. Drilled a few holes and got all the planes bearinged and mounted. Sail on with two brass bolts. You'll see all the inside part tomorrow. It looks like a submarine now.

Next adding the pins to the lower hull and holes to the upper half for alignment. Two screws either end to hold it down. And I'll be making the yokes for the rudder and dive planes from brass and wheel collars.

    More fun tomorrow.
