Trumpter 1/48 Type VII with Interior...
Some people will want to buy two. The first for static with lighting, figures and so on, and the second for R/C.
More pictures here:
How can you R/C this beast with one side of the hull as a free flood?
Now why didn't I think of that!
I assumed the clear starboard pieces could be glued in place for a full hull and painted. But, yeah, good question.
I hope it goes up on Hobby Search to get a look at what's inside the box.
Does it come with a full transparent starboard side?
These are the same group of photos that have been circulating since january... from the Nuremberg Toy Fair.
although there is no evidence in the photos taken at that show, at least one modeller magazine claims it will ship with clear parts... the last post in this thread gives a little more detail: http://models.rokket.biz/index.php?topic=1317 however, there is no indication what "clear parts" really means. at first blush... a no go. definitely something that will not be ordered sight un-seen months ahead of time, i won't be buying it until after someone else does and confirms that it can be r/c-ed. not like i don't have a 1/32 type VII that needs to be built anyway.
a little google digging... of the dozen or so modelling sites that picked this up back in january, only one gives a tentative date of august 2016 for release, all the others say either 2016 or TBA. none of the sites list a price.
more digging... stevens hobby (distributor) has it listed with an msrp of $599.95 and a cryptic (NOV) in the description... with a status of TBA

Reason: add pictures
These, again, are all photos from the same model toy show back in january. simply looking at the background you will see several large tables / display cases that have bright orange painted faces. It is as if Trumpeter has only shown this at the one toy show. Although many will call it "cool" alot of us are left wondering what Trumpeter's intentions are with this. to me, the level of detail in the interior, and the completely in-accurate placement of the lighting simply to highlight areas like a display model, and not actually light the model like the real sub (no navigation lights on the model, just 3 LEDs per internal section), are screaming "TOY", and for $400-$500, i don't want a toy.
