Now for the really bad part of this glazing.
    Glazed one size of rudder.
To do this the rudder needs to be move all the way to one side to get all of the surface accessible.
Just turn on the Tx and then the Rx.
Move the rudder control all the way to one side and unplug the Rx power plug.
Glaze the rudder. (10 seconds at most)

Then pick up electronics tray and turn over to plug Rx power in to move rudder in other directions.

    CRAP !
Plugged in the power and the ballast piston motor ran for a short burst.
Normally not an issue as the piston runs to get to the stop point. (was already there ?)
But I happened to have a finger in the electronics tray frame.
I also happened to be touching the secondary gear of the piston drive.
    How do I know?
The gear pulled my finger in and took a big chunk of meat from my finger right at the side of the finger nail. (really not so big but it hurts like the dickens and bleed a lot)

    Why did this happen?
I got careless and did not look to see where I was holding the electronics tray when I picked it up to turn it over to see the plug.

It will heal in a day or two BUT my embarrassment will last a lot longer. (dumb guy, dumb guy...in action)

There will be no photos of the injury.

Here is the gear that bit me.
Finger got pulled in between the gear and the tray mounting tube.
The gear is center of photo at the piston end.

    ================
While looking for this photo, I noticed something.
This thread is 23 page long.
The boat assembly was basically done in the first 2 pages. ;^)

    Final sanding completed.

    Masking the hull.
    Getting ready to paint.

3 coats of flat black, curing.
Required having the Tx and Rx on to move the rudder from left to right to get under the rudder stab top and bottom edges.
The paper goes out past the ends of the planes, so no over spray.

    Clear coat applied.
    Masking tape and paper removed.
Still shinny because it is still wet.
After it dries, I will see if I can get a better photo.

    Rudder modification, completed.
I now have a rudder that is 1:3.
1/4" in front of rudder post and 1
    2/4" behind the rudder post.

Testing in the pond will be Oct 14th.
That would be the next SubRonLA gathering at Yorba Regional Park.
    Gate opens at 7:00am.

In the pond about 45 minutes.

    Boat ran well.
The new rudder turns to the right closed the radius by about 10 feet.
    This is good.

Turning to the left not so much but better than stock rudder.

I did not say in the build modification but I made the right and left side of the rudder, different.
Now, I will modify the left side to match the right side.

Turning, both right and left was so much better.
