    The alligator eyes up top were drawn in the original studio plans to overlap the wheelhouse walls. However, the deck sets and filming miniatures were built with them following the edges (known in Nautilus aficionado parlance as "boomerang eyes").

    Yes, the outboard sides of the alligator eyes (upper lights) on the filming miniatures and deck sets were shaped like a boomerang.



    As drawn on the studio plans the outboard side of the eyes/lights are shaped like triangles. This is not seen in the film.

    Oh now I see. It's funny, the beloved hero model has that brass look, but it would have been made of iron or steel right and therefore would have been covered in blue-greenish color.
